Two of the main players in the spread offense include the Quarterback and the Running back.
First we start with the Quarterback, he needs to be able to lead the offense as well as be able to make up plays on the fly if things go wrong. He also needs to be able to read the defense and be able to make decisions based on what the defense is showing.

The running back or half back also has to make great plays on the fly because they are given a spot to go in the play and that spot usually ends at the line of scrimmage. After the running back passes that spot they have to be able to break tackles, juke, and weave for the extra yards that are always needed.
Then when the running back is really good he will be able to do this in fractions of seconds and he will pretty much be unstoppable. Any team that he will face will have no chance of coming up with a scheme because no matter what there move is he will always have a counter move out of the way so that they can not for one tackle him but also second he will set himself up in a position that he will be able to make another move and another move before they can even think and the last thing comes in and that is the speed the a running back has to have because there is no use in juking if the opponent can get right back up and run you down for round two and then successfully tackle you that is not good if that happens to the running back with his agility and smarts sets him self up so that he can run away from the people that are on the bad team. The running back is usually the most important player on the field and if you cannot stop him it will lead to worse things like opening another game like the pass game.
